The two award-winning works, «Stücke Charakter» and «..Danses oniriques..» for chamber ensemble, will be premiered by the celebrated Ensemble recherche at the «Music of the 21st Century» Festival in Saarbrücken on 19 May 2006.
Hans Thomalla (born in Bonn in 1975) studied composition under Hans Zender in Frankfurt until 1999. He then worked as a dramaturgy assistant at the Stuttgart Opera until 2002. Since September 2002 Hans Thomalla has been pursuing his studies under Brian Ferneyhough at Stanford University, where he is also a Teaching Fellow in theory of music.
Michael Pelzel (born in 1978) studied piano, organ and composition in Lucerne. Since 2003 he has been studying theory, composition and organ at the Musik-Akademie Basel under Detlev Müller-Siemens, Roland Moser and Guy Bovet.
